About

Built around Major.

justaskmajor is a one-person IT consultancy run by Marc Stern out of Richardson, Texas. The name comes from our son, Major — and 10% of everything earned here goes back to families like ours.

The short version

By day, I'm a Senior Cloud Systems Administrator at a Fortune 500 company. I work on thousands of servers across regulated, multi-region environments — AWS, VMware, Active Directory, Windows Server, the whole stack. Two decades in IT, most of it in roles where downtime costs real money.

By night and on weekends, I help small businesses and nonprofits avoid the IT mistakes that cost real money in their world. Different scale, same principles.

Why this exists

Our son Major has special needs. Raising him changed how my wife Mita and I think about almost everything — including how to spend a career. I wanted a way to use my skills to help two groups at once: small business owners who can't afford a real IT department, and special needs families who deserve more support than they get.

justaskmajor is that. Every invoice contributes 10% to H.E.R.O.E.S. DFW and other nonprofits serving individuals with special needs. I sit on the H.E.R.O.E.S. DFW board. The donation isn't marketing — it's the point.

"M3" is what we call our family: Marc, Mita, Major. This work runs through that.

The brand

"justaskmajor" started as a family joke. Major has a way of cutting through complexity that a lot of adults could learn from. When people in our world had a question they didn't know how to ask — kitchen sink, computer, life — the answer was often "just ask Major."

So that's the promise. Ask plainly. Get a plain answer. Pay a fair price. Help some families along the way.
